Vinyl LP Sales in Millions of Units

Sales of new vinyl LPs reached 13 million in 2016. It was the best year since Nielsen Music began measuring in 1991. An impressive milestone but still modest compared to vinyl’s heyday. According to The Recording Industry Association of America, vinyl sales peaked in 1977 when a record 344 million LPs and EPs were sold.
